My mom tells me that I started singing at the age of four after seeing The Little Mermaid. Come on, what four-year-old didn’t want to be like Ariel? My parents were a big influence for my love of music. They played great music around the house and my mom and I used to sing together. I sang in numerous choirs throughout elementary school up through high school. When it came time to apply to college, I was faced with a difficult decision. Concerned about the future of my financial stability, my parents tried suggesting that I pursue other majors outside of music. I had many doubts, but I knew in my heart music was what I had always wanted to dedicate my life to. I could not imagine being happier pursuing anything else. That next year I enrolled in the jazz studies program as a vocal performance major at The University of the Arts, Philadelphia. It was there that I was provided with opportunities that gave me potential to grow. Along with many other ensembles, I sang in a gospel group that performed throughout the tri-state area. Urban gospel gets me psyched!!! It’s so inspiring. I felt very blessed to have been constantly surrounded by such talented musicians and faculty who believed in me. I only have high hopes that I will continue to blossom with BeyondBlue…
